How about you do an online purchase and choose to select Net Banking for payment??? And think of
a situation that the online portal is of a fraud company. Naturally they will lead you to the Net Banking page, which looks like your original Net Banking site. As soon as you enter your User ID and PIN, the fraud portal is happy with the details to loot your entire money from your original bank account.
I just thought to share my experience.. There might be some other banks, which has other good features, but I never heard any good security like this.. So just sharing for you for a peaceful life. Prevention is better than cure. So utilize this facility now itself.
So how to avoid this? Those who use HDFC Bank Net Banking portal, I feel it is double safe. I remember long back HDFC bank prompted to set a picture & word for login page and asked to answer few question for the verification of online transactions.. After that whenever I had transactions, as soon I entered Customer ID and pressed “continue” button, the login page displays the same picture and word. I confirm if the picture and word is the same set earlier. If the portal is from a fraud, then the picture and word which I did set earlier will not display there, so if not displayed, I don’t put PIN.
On top of this, if I keep my Net Banking page opened on my system and if somebody try to do an online purchase without my knowledge, it will ask to answer the questions which gave earlier. So it is doubly sure that if you use HDFC Net Banking, your money is in safe hands. I hope new bank account opening also, this preset option will be there to safe guard HDFC's customers.
